Open House at History Center to Honor Volunteer Virgil Prestby

The History Center in Shevlin will be open Sunday, May 17 to celebrate Virgil Prestby as an outstanding volunteer. The open house will be from 1 to 3 pm. The museum as well as the historic buildings will be open. There is no admission fee to visit the museum.

Virgil was recently awarded an Outstanding Volunteer Award for 2026 from the Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums. (MALHM) “Many volunteers across the state of Minnesota dedicate their time and resources to preserve and share our collective history. We want to celebrate their contributions on a statewide level year after year, said MALHM coordinator Liz Koele. Virgil is a longtime volunteer at the Clearwater County Historical Society museum in Shevlin. He was instrumental in developing several exhibits in the historic buildings as well as lending his expertise in identifying tools and other “what’s it?” artifacts.
