Clearwater County First Lady Event
May 6 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
The Clearwater County Historical Society will be holding the 2023 Clearwater County “First Lady” event on Saturday, May 6 at 10:00 am at the Good Shepherd Church in Clearbrook. The women of Good Shepherd are co-hosting the event with the historical society. Riverwood Bank, First National Bank and Northern State Bank are also sponsoring the 2023 event.
In the 17 years that the Clearwater County Historical Society has hosted this event, it has been held in conjunction with the observance of National Women’s History Month. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.” The theme encourages recognition of women, past and present, who have been active in all forms of media and storytelling including print, radio, TV, stage, screen, blogs, podcasts, and more. The theme honors women in every community who have devoted their lives and talents to producing art, pursuing truth, and reflecting the human condition decade after decade. This is also an opportunity to celebrate the women of achievement in our county – past and present.
You can help select the 2023 honoree. Think of a county woman who should be considered for the award, then send a letter with her name and include your reasons for her nomination; this can include her accomplishments, years of service, her career highlights, and other characteristics that you think should be considered. Nominees can be volunteers or can be a woman who is excelling in her chosen career. The nominees can be retired or just starting out. The only requirement is that she must be a woman currently living in Clearwater County. Make sure to include your name and contact information so we can let you know in time so you can help get your selected nominee to the event! A secret panel of judges will read all the letters and make their decision in time to be revealed at the event.
Letters should be sent by April 1 to 2023 First Lady, History Center, P.O. Box 24, Bagley, MN 56621.
Since 1977, Forty-three women in Clearwater County have been recognized for their accomplishments either for their service in a variety of community projects and organizations or for success in their careers.
