“Betweenity” a BHS play
We’ve all been there. The awkward pause. The silence where you just can’t think of something to say. The space in-between words where nothing is said and yet so much is spoken. The state of being between. Eighteen Bagley High School students in grades 7, 8, & 9 have been working on a vignette play by Lindsey Price titled “Betweenity.” They are excited to present their work on Friday and Saturday evenings, Nov. 14 & 15, in the BHS Auditorium beginning at 7:00 pm.
This forty-minute play explores the beats, pauses, and silences in conversation. It is an excellent piece for students to learn that acting isn’t just memorizing lines and reciting them on the stage, acting is the process of understanding what a character is feeling and then re-acting to what another character says…even if that means acting in silence. The series of scenes allows the young actors to enact a variety of characters and scenes as the play unveils the universal feeling of awkward.
The public is invited to attend the show this weekend to see something a little different and support the students in their work. Tickets are $7 and available at the door.
